Shock News!

BHLA COVID-19 Response

BHLA Families,

Like so many of you, The Black Hills Lacrosse Association’s Board of Directors has spent the last several days and weeks learning more about the coronavirus (COVID-19) and how it is impacting our region, sport and community. For our Association we have one simple objective in determining our course of action; provide for the safety and security of our players and spectators. This guiding principle has been the focus of our analysis of our Association’s response to this challenge. With that in mind, we have made several adjustments to our season in response to the threat of the coronavirus.

First, practice has been delayed pursuant to the school closures for all age groups.  This is in response to Governor Noem’s cancellation of public schools and will be following her direction as the situation evolves.  This is a precautionary effort to create social distancing to slow and hopefully stop the spread of COVID-19.

Secondly, we would ask that if a player is exhibiting symptoms of a fever, cough or other respiratory ailments, isolate in place. Do not attend practice or competition.  Seek prompt medical attention if your illness continues to worsen.

We are closely following the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) guidelines and the US Lacrosse Association recommendations on the steps we can take to help prevent the spread of the virus. We ask any players or spectators who are returning from an area of the world identified as posing a coronavirus-related risk, per the CDC to self-quarantine for 14 days.

If you have any questions regarding Black Hills Lacrosse Association COVID-19 response, please reach out via email to info@blackhillslacrosse.com. It is incredibly important that we all take the threat seriously WITHOUT panic and paranoia.  A pragmatic approach to this threat is appropriate to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all our players and spectators.

We will be in communication with more information as it becomes available.

Respectfully,

The Black Hills Lacrosse Association Board of Directors
